Experiencing violent incidents, even as a witness, can be particularly dangerous and traumatic and consequently staff do need specialist training about how to cope with such incidents. For their own safety, staff must be advised to never put themselves at risk and to try to move away from aggressive customers, whilst never allowing themselves to become isolated. When necessary, staff must call 999 as soon as possible and write down as many of the details of the event as possible.
